United
Schools of America ™
Imagine a country where all schools coordinated to solve the real-world problems of our time. What if all our students were given the chance to imagine, improve, and innovate? What if they succeeded? Join us as we lead this movement!
The why
Public Education needs a new WHY. For generations, public education has championed the American ideal of opportunity. But we can do better. Real world problems allow students to learn and grow using the local structures in place within each community, but with a twist: putting all of that curricula to good use! Solving real world problems can be as simple or complicated as your imagination allows, and it gives purpose and meaning to a well-rounded education.
Whether it’s through ongoing, daily problem solving, or an annual challenge, adding in the WHY: solving real world problems… will kickstart a new generation of American Innovation.
The how
The how doesn’t necessarily require any additional funding to get started, nor does it require additional personnel. You can start small and scale it up. Solve a local problem for a quick win, then watch what happens when students are challenged to think bigger.
💡Start With An Annual Challenge💡
Solve ONE real world problem by working together over the course of a year.
Shown to the right is an annual challenge put on by a LEUSD’s CTE (career technical education) programs.
AN Enhanced vision of education
Imagine actively solving problems every day instead of passively distributing and consuming ubiquitous content. Every day, relationships, project-based learning, and fun would begin to transform our Nation with tangible optimism and results. Public education would derive a renewed, relevant purpose, delivering an unprecedented return on investment.
Community Issues
Our students can have the greatest impact right at home. Connect with community members to discover the problems that need to be solved.
Local Issues
Connect with local leaders to discover the problems that need solutions right at home. Invite an outside perspective by connecting to a sister school or district.
County Issues
“But we’ve always done it this way” is an expired paradigm in a post-pandemic era. Allow students the opportunity to solve problems bigger than their local communities.
Generating New Ideas Solving Big Problems
There are endless problems that need solutions. Some of them are big, even offering rewards (Millennium Math Prizes, for example). Will you join our Nation-wide effort?
